ABOUT Authentic Bengali Lavang Latika RECIPE

A famous Bengali sweet which is specially made after Durga Pooja and almost in every festival. It's rich and aromatic flavour is just heavenly. The cloves used in this sweet gives it a unique shape as well as an amazing flavour. An authentic sweet which is covered with sweet sugar syrup and still having crisper covering and a rich stuffing of mawa and dry fruits.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. All purpose flour, 1 cup
  2. Mawa, 1/2cup
  3. Sugar, 1+1/2cup
  4. Water, 1 cup for sugar syrup
  5. Dry fruits(almonds, cashew,pistachio), 2tsp
  6. Oil, 1tsp
  7. Warm water, as required for kneading
  8. Lavang(cloves), 8-10

Instructions

  1. Take all purpose flour and add oil.
  2. With the help of warm water knead a smooth dough.
  3. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
  4. Take out portion of dough and roll it flat like a puri.
  5. Put mawa and chopped dry fruits in the center.
  6. Start folding, fold from right then overlap with left and then fold the top then the bottom.
  7. Seal it with a lavang.
  8. Prepare rest of the pieces also in the similar way and keep them for 5-6 minutes.
  9. Now heat oil in a pan for frying.
  10. Simmer the flame when hot and then fry the pieces until golden brown.
  11. Prepare the sugar syrup by taking a pan and adding sugar and water and prepare syrup.
  12. Now before serving re heat the sugar syrup and dip the lavang latika pieces into it and let them be there for 10-15minutes.
  13. Serve warm.
