Chicken cooked in curd and spices give it a pleasant aroma and a finger licking taste. Yummy chicken dish cooked in to perfect in a yogurt based gravy. The use of aromatic spices gives dahi chicken a pleasant aroma and makes it finger licking. Yogurt when cooked leaves out fats that give dahi chicken a taste that you cannot forget. The creamy and flavorful gravy is best enjoyed with naans. This dish is very healthy as well as both chicken and dahi are high on proteins and low on carbohydrates. Dahi chicken recipe is very easy to make as well and can be made by amateur cooks as well.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 300 gm chicken, cut into small pieces
  2. Salt to taste
  3. 1 tbsp oil
  4. 3 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  5. 1 cup curd
  6. 1/2 cup cream
  7. 1 tsp pepper powder
  8. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  9. 1 tsp cumin powder
  10. 2 tsp kasoori methi
  11. 2 green chillies
  12. 1/2 -1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a wok or kadhai.
  2. Fry the chicken pieces till they are golden in colour. Add the ginger-garlic paste, saute till it coats the chicken well.
  3. Then add all other ingredients, except the water.
  4. Cover the lid and allow it to cook on a slow heat for about 20 mins or till the chicken turns tender.
  5. Do check in between, add water if it requires any to form a gravy.
  6. Your dahi chicken is ready to eat.
