ABOUT Pakistani Garlicky red lentil spinach soup RECIPE

A traditional Pakistani soup which is highly nutritive .

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Any spinach that cooks quickly ( washed and chopped ) 2 cups
  2. Garlic pods 7 finely chopped
  3. Ginger flakes 1 teaspoon
  4. Shallots 3 finely chopped / grated .
  5. Red lentil cooked 1 cup
  6. Red lentil stock 3 large glasses
  7. Salt as required
  8. Green chillies 2
  9. Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  11. butter 1 tablespoon
  12. Garam Masala a pinch .

Instructions

  1. In a sauce pan , melt butter.
  2. Add chopped garlic , ginger flakes and sauté for a minute .
  3. Add chopped shallots . Sauté for 2 minutes .
  4. Add cumin powder .
  5. Add salt .
  6. Add the cooked mashed dal along with lentil stock .
  7. Add spinach and cover the pan for 5 minutes .
  8. Add a pinch of Garam Masala .
  9. Let the lentil spinach soup boil for a minute .
  10. Switch off the flame .
  11. Serve warm .
