Meanwhile peel and cut bottle gourd into small cubes.
Heat a pan and dry roast onion till brown,add cumin seeds and red chillies.
Add red lentil,stir and cook for one minute on medium flame.
When water dried,add bottle gourd.stir.add 1cup water.add salt.
Cover and cook on medium flame for 10 minutes or till cooked.
Serve with boiled rice or chapeti.
