Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup - Red lentil (Lal masoor ki dal) (soaked for 4-5 hours)
  2. 4-5 - Fresh brown bread slices
  3. 2 - Whole red chili
  4. 1 - Onion, roughly cut
  5. 1 cup - Carrot, roughly cut
  6. 3 - Garlic cloves, roughly cut
  7. 8-10 - Basil leaves
  8. 1 tsp - Dil leaves
  9. 1/2 tsp - Oregano
  10. 1/2 tsp - Black pepper, finely crushed
  11. 1/2 cup - Plain cheese
  12. 2 tsp - Lemon juice
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Oil for greasing
  15. 2-3 tsp - Milk if batter is thick

Instructions

  1. Break the brown bread slice and grind in mixer. Strain the lentil and coarsely grind it, transfer to a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a grinding jar add whole red chilies, carrots, onion, basil and dill leaves and coarsely grind everything. Transfer it to the bowl in which you have the lentil paste.
  3. Add lemon juice, salt, oregano, cheese and crushed black pepper in it and mix well.
  4. Preheated oven to 180 degree.
  5. Make medium size patties from the batter and place in baking tray greased with oil. Bake for 25-30 min or till cooked.
  6. Serve hot with mint and coriander chutney or with tomato sauce.
