ABOUT Khichdo RECIPE

This multi grain khichdo is a famous dish from Gujarat and specially made in hindu month Dhanurmaas which ends on Sankrant.This is a very healthy dish with minimum spices.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice-4 tbsp
  2. Tuvar daal-2 tbsp
  3. Mung daal-2 tbsp
  4. Chana daal-2 tbsp
  5. Broken wheat(fada)-2 tbsp
  6. Ghee-2 tbsp
  7. Ginger-1 inch
  8. Green chilli-1
  9. Garlic-6 cloves
  10. Green coriander-2 tbsp
  11. Turmeric-1/4 tsp
  12. Garam masala-1/2 tsp
  13. Salt-1 tsp
  14. Water-2 cups

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak all daals and rice for half an hour.
  2. Grind ginger,garlic,chilli and coriander without water in mixer to get a coarse paste.
  3. Take ghee in cooker.Add carom seeds and asafoetida.
  4. Add green paste which we prepared.
  5. Add the drained daals.
  6. Add drained rice.
  7. Lastly add broken wheat.
  8. Add salt.
  9. Add 2 cups of water,turmeric and garam masala.
  10. Cover and cook for 4 to 5 whistles.
  11. Open after pressure is released.Serve hot.
