ABOUT khichdi RECIPE

This is an easy and tasty comfort food, which has always my favourite .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. rice 2 cups
  2. moong dal 3/4 cup
  3. ghee 1 tsp
  4. bay leaf 1-2
  5. zeera [cumin seeds]1 tsp
  6. red chilli 2
  7. salt
  8. turmeric powder
  9. hing [asafoetida] 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. boil 6 cups of water in a pan
  2. add turmeric powder,salt and bring to boil
  3. add dal & rice and cook it covered till rice is cooked completely
  4. in another pan heat ghee
  5. add zeera,bay leaf,hing and red chilli and make a tempering
  6. add this tempering to the khichdi and mix well
  7. serve hot with curd or curry
