ABOUT KASHMIRI CHICKEN (MURGH) RECIPE

One of Kashmir's yummiest dish not only in kashmir but worldwide. It can be cooked either boneless chicken or with bone. Here I've made with bone and added potatoes too.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Chicken 500 gms
  2. Onion 3 large
  3. Tomato 2
  4. Ghee 3tablespoon
  5. Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  6. Chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  7. Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  8. Turmeric powder 1/2teaspoon
  9. Curd 1/2 cup
  10. 1 Cup water
  11. Potato 1
  12. Bay leaf 1 dried
  13. Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Coriander leaves for garnish
  16. For Roast and grind
  17. cashew 15
  18. almond 12
  19. Raisins 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Dry roast cashew, almond and raisins. Let it cool and grind in mixer with little water.
  2. Heat 2teaspoon of ghee and fry 21/2 chopped onions until brown.
  3. Let it cool. Grind to paste. Keep aside.
  4. Puree tomatoes.
  5. Add leftover ghee in pan and saute bay leaf for few seconds.
  6. Add remaining half chopped onions and saute well.
  7. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell disappear.
  8. Add chilli, coriander and tumeric powder.
  9. Add chicken and saute till masalas coat on the chicken.
  10. Let it cook in slow flame till ghee floats on top.
  11. Add 1 potato cube to it.
  12. Add tomato puree and water and let it cook in slow flame.
  13. Add well beaten curd to it.
  14. When chicken and potatoes are cooked add fried onion paste and cashew almond raisins paste to it.
  15. Cook till ghee floats on top.
  16. Sprinkle garam masala powder and garnish it with coriander leaves.
  17. Kashmiri chicken (murgh) is ready to be served with rotis, parathas or any flavored rice.
