at my house its very difficult to dream of a recipe without tomato in it....when it came to sabudana khichadi i came out with this recipe....to make tomato tangy sabudana khichadi and it turned out just awesome...

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 200 gms overnight soaked sabudana
  2. 2 medium sized potatoes chopped
  3. 2 medium sized tomatoes chopped
  4. 1 small bowl roasted and crushed peanuts
  5. 4 green chilies chopped
  6. 10-12 curry leaves
  7. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  8. 4-5 tbsp oil
  9. 1 tbsp clarified butter
  10. salt to taste
  11. 2-3 tbsp lemon juice
  12. chopped coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. add oil and clarified butter in a heated pan or kadai....add the cumin seeds let it splutter...add the green chilies and curry leaves...
  2. add the chopped potatoes...saute for 2-3 mins till it is half done...add salt to taste just as enough for the potatoes....this will ensure the potatoes cooks faster...also salt added in 2 parts will give the dish equal flavour throughout...
  3. add the tomatoes.. mix it and cover and cook for around 2 mins or till the potatoes are cooked nicely and the tomatoes turn tender...keep the flame on a low heat...
  4. add the soaked sabudana..sprinkle some salt just as enough for sabudana...mix it well... cover and cook for 5-6 mins or till the sabudana turns soft and translucent...keep stirring in between...
  5. add the roasted peanuts....add the lemon juice..garnish with chopped corainder leaves...mix it well...serve hot...
