Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the gujiya dough -
  2. 1 cup Maida
  3. 1 tablespoon Sooji
  4. 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  5. 1 tablespoon  Ghee
  6. 1/4 teaspoon of Salt
  7. Milk as required to knead the dough
  8. For the gujiya stuffing -
  9. 1/4 cup desiccated coconut
  10. 1/5 cup condensed milk
  11. 12 cashew nuts coarsely chopped
  12. 12 raisins coarsely chopped
  13. 8 almonds coarsely chopped
  14. 8 dates coarsely chopped
  15. 2 tablespoons sugar
  16. 4 green cardamom made into powder
  17. For the sugar syrup
  18. 1/2 cup Sugar
  19. 1/4 cup water
  20. 2 green cardamom pods

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix the ingredients for the gujiya dough. Knead well . Cover with damp cloth and keep aside.
  2. In a kadhai, add the coconut and all other ingredients for the stuffing and cook on very low heat till the stuffing is dry and well mixed.
  3. From the dough make eight portions.
  4. Roll out each into round puri shape. Place stuffing in the centre and fold it into a crescent.
  5. Seal the edges with pinch and fold method.
  6. Fry the gujiya in medium hot till golden and crisp.
  7. Make a one string sugar syrup with the sugar , water and green cardamom.
  8. Dip the gujiyas into the syrup and remove to a plate and serve.
  9. Best enjoyed with thandai sharbat.
