ABOUT Capsicum Chicken (Indo-Chinese) RECIPE

Flavourful, yummy and semi-dry dish goes well with rotis or steamed rice. One of my best tasted dish adapted from Net@sailusfood.com.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/2 kg chicken
  2. 2 Capsicums - chopped into big pieces
  3. 2 tomatoes chopped
  4. 1 Large Onion finely chopped
  5. 1 1/2 tbsp Tomato sauce
  6. Coriander leaves handful
  7. 1 piece Cinnamon, 1 cardamon, 2 cloves
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Curd 1 tbsp
  10. Cumin Powder 1/2 Tsp
  11. coriander powder 1 1/2 tsp
  12. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  13. Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  14. ginger garlic paste 1 1/4 tsp
  15. Soya sauce 1 tsp
  16. Vinegar or lemon juice 1 tsp
  17. Turmeric 1 pinch
  18. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and marinate chicken with curd, red chilli powder, pepper powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric, vinegar, soya sauce, ginger garlic paste and salt for 1-2 hrs. Place in refrigerator.
  2. Heat 2 tsp oil in a vessel. Add in onions, fry till transperent.
  3. Add in capsicum and tomatoes.
  4. Satue for 3 mins. Turn off heat, remove and keep aside.
  5. Grind cloves, cinnamon and cardamon. Keep this garam masala powder aside.
  6. Heat oil in a vessel. Add marinated chicken.
  7. Cook for 4-5 mins on high flame.
  8. Reduce to medium heat, let the chicken cook for 8-10 mins, uncovered.
  9. Add 1/4 cup water and cook till chicken turns soft and there is hardly any water left.
  10. Add garam masala powder to the tomato sauce we made. Stir well.
  11. Add in sauteed onion, capsicum and tomatoes, mix well.
  12. Cook on high flame for 3 mins and turn off heat.
  13. Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves on top and serve.
