ABOUT Dahi Bhalla Chaat In Baked Katori RECIPE

Dahi Bhalla is deep fried lentil balls dunked in yoghurt and topped with different kinds of chutneys and garnished with spice powders. Dahi Bhalla is one of the classic North Indian chaat snacks that is sold as a street food across India.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. For Katoris:
  2. 2 cups maida
  3. 1/2 cup oil
  4. 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  5. 1/4 tsp ajwain
  6. salt to taste
  7. 3/4-1 cup use milk and curd if baking the Katoris (if frying the Katoris -use water)
  8. For Vadas:
  9. 1 cup urad dal
  10. Pinch of Hing
  11. salt as per taste
  12. oil for frying
  13. 1 chopped green chilli
  14. little chopped Ginger
  15. 1/2 tsp jeera seeds
  16. For The Dahi:
  17. 2 Cups thick yoghurt
  18. 1/2 Cup milk
  19. Pinch of sugar
  20. For Serving:
  21. boiled and chopped potatoes
  22. chopped cucumber
  23. chopped tomatoes
  24. 1 tsp roasted jeera powder
  25. salt to taste
  26. 1 tsp black salt
  27. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  28. 1 tsp chat masala powder
  29. 2 tbsp sweet tamarind chutney
  30. 2 tbsp green chutney
  31. few pomegranate seeds
  32. 1 tbsp Bundi
  33. 1tbsp namkeen sev
  34. chopped coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. For Katoris:
  2. let's begin with the dough. Take a bowl add Maida oil baking powder ajwain and salt and mix properly. Add milk and knead the dough.
  3. Grease the katori mould with oil. Roll the dough into a circle big enough to cover the Outer side of the Katori mould.
  4. preheat the oven at 180 degree centigrade.
  5. cover all the Katori moulds.
  6. bake them in the oven for about 10 to 20 minutes or until the outer covering is brown. allow them to sit on the counter for a while. once cooled remove from the moulds.
  7. And The Baked Katori are ready for filling.
  8. For Vadas:
  9. soak the Dal for 6 hours in water and keep aside.
  10. then take out extra water and add all the ingredients of bhalle except oil and grind it into a mixture.
  11. In a kadai heat oil for frying.
  12. now take a tablespoon of the mixture on your palm and place it in the hot oil and fry them till Golden crisp.
  13. now deep them in some water for half an hour.
  14. Beet yogurt and add milk and sugar to it.
  15. gently squeeze water from the bhalle and place them in half the beaten yoghurt mixture.
  16. For Serving:
  17. place Katoris on a clean plate.
  18. add vadas in the katoris.
  19. add potatoes cucumbers and tomatoes.
  20. add curd green chutney and sweet chutney.
  21. add salt black salt red chilli powder chat masala powder and roasted jeera powder.
  22. garnish dahi bhalla with pomegranate seeds boondi sev and coriander leaves and serve immediately.
