ABOUT Katori Chaat (with edible spoon and katori) RECIPE

Deep fried or baked katoris made with flour are filled with your favorite toppings and topped with sweet and sour chutneys!! Something savory that is full of flavor, delicious and tasty!

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 cups Maida
  2. 1/2 cup Oil
  3. 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon Ajwain
  5. 2 tsp salt to taste
  6. Chilled water as required
  7. FOR STUFFING:
  8. 1 cups Boiled potatoes
  9. 1cups Boiled Garbanzo beans (Safed chole)
  10. 8-10 urad dal bhalla soaked in water
  11. 2 cups Beaten curd/yogurt
  12. 1cup Tamarind Chutney
  13. 1cup Green Chutney
  14. 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  15. 2 teaspoon Chaat Masala

Instructions

  1. FOR FRIED KATORI
  2. Roll the dough, Grease a tart mould roll the dough in a circle, place tart mould in the center and wrap the dough around it.
  3. Cut the extra dough with knife.
  4. In the heated oil drop the tart mould wrapped with dough and fry it.
  5. Oil will start filling up in the mould, BE CAREFUL. Using a tong carefully remove the dough from the mould, and after draining all the oil pull the mould out. Place the katori on a greased paper towel - DO NOT TOUCH, it's still hot. Keep frying the dough shaped katori in oil.
  6. Once brown remove from oil and drain it on a paper towel.
  7. For edible spoon--
  8. Roll out the dough, prick with the fork, cut with the sharp knife ( like namak pare) and fry till golden brown.
  9. ASSEMBLING KATORIS---
  10. Place katori on a clean plate...
  11. Pour 1 tsp green chutney,1/2 tsp tamarind chutney and curd, add potatoes, chickpeas and onions. Add a bhalla cut into 4 pieces
  12. Add 1 teaspoon green chutney, curd, tamarind chutney, pepper and chat masala.
  13. Enjoy these lip smacking yummylicious katoris !!
