ABOUT Puli Upma / Tangy Upma RECIPE

It is a different from usual upma in which the grain cooks in water. It is reverse process. Paste made with rice flour and tamarind is fried in oil till it crumbles. Its very tasty that should be made with mormozhakai. In case if you dont have mormozhakai you can replace with red dry chillies. It tastes best with sugar.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice flour 1 cup
  2. Tamarind lemon size
  3. Salt to taste
  4. For seasoning sesame oil 4 tablespoon
  5. Mustard seeds
  6. Urad dal
  7. Hing
  8. Curry leaves
  9. Mormozhakai required

Instructions

  1. Take 1 cup rice flour
  2. Soak tamarind for 15 minutes to get tamarind extract
  3. Take required seasoning
  4. Add salt and tamarind extract to rice flour
  5. Make a fine paste
  6. Heat oil
  7. Add seasoning
  8. Add the paste and saute
  9. Saute for 10 minutes on low flame till it crumbles
