Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Tuvar daal 1cup
  2. Onion sliced 1
  3. Slited green chilli 2
  4. chopped Ginger 2tbsp
  5. chopped garlic 2tbsp
  6. Chopped tomato 1
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
  8. For tadka-
  9. Ghee 1tbsp
  10. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  11. Asafoetida 1/4tsp
  12. kasuri methi 1tsp
  13. Chopped Garlic 1tbsp
  14. Dry red chilli 2
  15. For smoky taste -
  16. Charcoal 1 small piece
  17. Ghee 1tsp
  18. chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. HEAT OIL IN A COOKER, ADD SLITED GREEN CHILLI, CHOPPED GINGER GARLIC,
  2. SAUTE A MIN.
  3. ADD SLICED ONIONS, MIX AND COOK FOR 2MINS.
  4. ADD CHOPPED TOMATOES AND COOK TILL TOMATO BECOMES TENDER.
  5. ADD THE WASHED DAAL, MIX AND COOK FURTHER 2-3MINS.
  6. ADD 2-1/2CUPS OF WATER AND MIX.
  7. ADD SALT AND TURMERIC POWDER.
  8. COVER AND COOK FOR 3 WHISTLES ON MEDIUM HEAT.
  9. LET THE PRESSURE SUBSIDES ITSELF. THEN OPEN THE LID.
  10. FOR TADKA, HEAT GHEE IN A TADKA PAN, ADD CUMIN SEEDS, HING, CHOPPED GARLIC,
  11. DRY RED CHILLIES,
  12. CRUSHED KASOORI METHI.
  13. MIX.
  14. POUR THIS MIXTURE TO THE DAAL.
  15. COVER THE LID FOR 5-7MINUTES.
  16. OPEN THE LID AND MIX WELL.
  17. FOR SMOKY TASTE, PUT A BURNING CHARCOAL IN A STEEL BOWL AND KEEP IN THE COOKER CAREFULLY.
  18. POUR 1TSP GHEE.
  19. COVER THE LID FOR 15 MINUTES.
  20. TAKE OUT THE BOWL.
  21. GARNISH WITH CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES.
