Tuvar daal 1cup
Onion sliced 1
Slited green chilli 2
chopped Ginger 2tbsp
chopped garlic 2tbsp
Chopped tomato 1
Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
For tadka-
Ghee 1tbsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Asafoetida 1/4tsp
kasuri methi 1tsp
Chopped Garlic 1tbsp
Dry red chilli 2
For smoky taste -
Charcoal 1 small piece
Ghee 1tsp
chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions
HEAT OIL IN A COOKER, ADD SLITED GREEN CHILLI, CHOPPED GINGER GARLIC,
SAUTE A MIN.
ADD SLICED ONIONS, MIX AND COOK FOR 2MINS.
ADD CHOPPED TOMATOES AND COOK TILL TOMATO BECOMES TENDER.
ADD THE WASHED DAAL, MIX AND COOK FURTHER 2-3MINS.
ADD 2-1/2CUPS OF WATER AND MIX.
ADD SALT AND TURMERIC POWDER.
COVER AND COOK FOR 3 WHISTLES ON MEDIUM HEAT.
LET THE PRESSURE SUBSIDES ITSELF. THEN OPEN THE LID.
FOR TADKA, HEAT GHEE IN A TADKA PAN, ADD CUMIN SEEDS, HING, CHOPPED GARLIC,
DRY RED CHILLIES,
CRUSHED KASOORI METHI.
MIX.
POUR THIS MIXTURE TO THE DAAL.
COVER THE LID FOR 5-7MINUTES.
OPEN THE LID AND MIX WELL.
FOR SMOKY TASTE, PUT A BURNING CHARCOAL IN A STEEL BOWL AND KEEP IN THE COOKER CAREFULLY.
POUR 1TSP GHEE.
COVER THE LID FOR 15 MINUTES.
TAKE OUT THE BOWL.
GARNISH WITH CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES.
