ABOUT Dal-bati RECIPE

This is very popular rajasthani dish and coojed in every house specially during festivals. Thisvis one of my favourite dish from my mom's kitchen and i too learn this from my mother.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For bati-
  2. 2 cup wheat flour
  3. 1/4 tsp Salt
  4. 1 tbsp ghee
  5. 1/2 tbsp fennel seeds
  6. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  7. Pinch Of Baking Soda
  8. Water for kneading the dough
  9. Ghee for dip the baties
  10. For dal:-
  11. 1/2 cup yellow Moong Dal
  12. 1/4 cup channa dal
  13. 1/4 cup tuvar dal
  14. 1/4 cup green moong dal
  15. 2 chopped tomato
  16. 2 chopped green chilli
  17. 1 tbsp grated Ginger
  18. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  19. Salt to taste
  20. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  21. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  22. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  23. 2 tbsp ghee
  24. 2 tbsp lemon juice
  25. for tadka:-
  26. 2 tbsp ghee
  27. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  28. 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  29. chopped green coriander

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix wheat flour,salt, fennel seeds, turmeric powder, baking soda, ghee.
  2. Add water and knead it into dough.
  3. Preheat the gas tandoor on medium flame for 5 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into small equal size balls.
  5. Bake the rolled balls on gas tandoor for 20- 30 minutes or until it become golden in colour and cracks will shown on bati.
  6. Take out bati from tandoor and dip it in melted ghee for 5 minutes.
  7. Making dal:-
  8. Clean and wash the dal.
  9. In a pressure cooker heat ghee .
  10. Add chopped tomatoes and ginger green chilli. Mix it .
  11. Now add dal and all spices.
  12. Add required amount of water . Cover the lid and take out 4-5 whistle.
  13. In a pan heat ghee and add cumin seeds.
  14. When it starts crackling add asafoetida and then pour this on cooked dal. Mix it very well.
  15. In last add garam masala, lemon juice and chopped green coriander.
