ABOUT Lapsi RECIPE

Lapsi dish is a very special sweet dish of Gujarat and Rajasthan. It is prepared with broken wheat also known as Dalia.(porridge)  As I'am not a Rajasthani or Gujrati but this dish is very nearest to my heart,because my family loved this dish!  As normally nobody likes to have Porridge in my life and i used to feed them forcefully but this Lapsi was just got finished within in 20 minutes :-)

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Porridge - 1 cup
  2. Jaggery 1/2 cup (you can sugar also)
  3. Desi ghee - 3 tbsp
  4. Chopped Almonds - 1 tsp
  5. Raisins - 1 tsp
  6. you can add cashews also)
  7. Green Cardamom - 1 to 2 pieces
  8. Water - 2.5 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat the pressure cooker over flame.
  2. Add 1 tbsp ghee into it.
  3. When ghee starts melting add porridge and stir continuously.
  4. Cook until it gets slightly brown in color.
  5. After roasting porridge add 2.5 cups of water and close the pressure cooker with lid.
  6. After one whistle ,turn of the flame.
  7. When all steam escapes ,open the lid. Peel the cardamom and powder it
  8. Turn on the flame
  9. Add jaggery ( i have crushed the jaggery pieces)in porridge and mix it well.
  10. Now add chopped almonds,raisins,cardamom powder and rest of the ghee  into it and mix all the ingredients really well.
  11. Cook lapsi till the porridge and jaggery dissolves completely .
  12. Lapsi is now ready ,turn off the flame . Take out the lapsi in a bowl and garnish it with nuts.
