Ingredients Serving: 4
Toor Dal 1/4 cup
Moong Dal 1/4 cup
Chana dal 2 tbsp
Green Chillies (Optional) 2 Slit lengthwise
Onions 1 finely chopped
Tomato 1 finely chopped
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tsp
Dhania Powder 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder 1/2 tsp
Chilli Powder 1 tsp
Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves) 1/4 cup
Finely Chopped Coriander 1/4 cup
Lemon juice 1 1/2 tbsp
Salt as per taste
Oil/Ghee 1 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Red chillies 2
Asafoetida a pinch
Instructions
Combine all the lentils and wash them well, pour sufficient quantity of water and pressure cook along with green chillies for 2-3 whistles until they are soft.
When the pressure settles, open the lid, mash the lentils and keep aside.
In a vessel heat oil/ghee and add in mustard and cumin seeds followed by red chillies and asafoetida.
Add chopped onions and fry until they are half done.
Now add in Ginger Garlic paste and fry until the raw smell goes away.
Add chopped tomatoes and add in until they are soft.
Now add dhania powder, garam masala powder, chilli powder, salt and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Add in the mashed dal along with water to attain the required consistency.
When the dal comes to a boil, add kasuri methi and chopped coriander.
Turn off the stove and add in lemon juice and mix well.
Serve this delicious dal fry with jeera rice.
