ABOUT Majjika pulusu/Buttermilk rasam RECIPE

An authentic and flavourfull Rasam made with buttermilk as a main ingredient. Buttermilk is always considered good for the stomach, good for digestion in all age groups. Given a simple takda makes it a flavourfull Rasam which is had in Andhra pradesh region alongwith hot steamed rice, papads or pickles. Occasionally made with vegetables, tastes as good.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Buttermilk - 3 glasses salted
  2. Ginger peices - 1 tsp (optional)
  3. Coconut - 3 tbsp grated
  4. Green chillies - 3 chopped
  5. For Tempering :
  6. Asfotedia - a pinch
  7. Oil - 2 tbsp
  8. Mustard seeds-1 tsp
  9. Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  10. Red chillies - 2 broken
  11. Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  12. Curry leaves - few

Instructions

  1. Add oil to a small sauce pan. Start with the tempering. Add mustard seeds. As it splutters add the cumin seeds.
  2. Add the red chillies, curry leaves and asfotedia.
  3. Add coconut, green chillies and finely chopped (ginger optional) peices directly to the buttermilk and mix. Add the tempering. Mix.
  4. Serve hot with plain steamed rice alongwith papads or pickles.
