ABOUT PAYA SHORBA RECIPE

Paya or Lamb legs are know to be the best and most inexpensive source of calcium, protein, amino acid and minerals. It also stimulates our immune system which help us combat allergies, fight degenerative joint diseases and inflammation, helps nail and hair growth and many more.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Paya from 1 goat/lamb
  2. 4 tablespoon chana dal
  3. 2 Medium Onions
  4. 2 tablespoon dessicated/ fresh coconut, grated
  5. 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  6. 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  7. 10-12 garlic pods
  8. 1 inch ginger
  9. 3-4 green chillies
  10. 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  11. 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  12. 1 tablespoon oil
  13. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  14. 1 litre hot water
  15. salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the chana dal for 1 hour.
  2. Clean & wash paya by rubbing with salt and then flour
  3. Grind together onions, garlic, ginger, green chillies, coconut, poppy seeds & sesame seeds
  4. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds. Allow them to crackle
  5. Next add the chana dal, the onion paste & turmeric powder. Saute until the raw smell of onion is gone
  6. Then add the paya & salt. Saute this on high flame for 2 minutes.
  7. Add hot water & garam masala. Mix well & close the lid
  8. Cook on medium to low flame for 40-45 minutes.
  9. Open the cooker once the pressure settles. Mix well. Serve hot with bread.
