ABOUT Mixed Dal Vadas RECIPE

This is a South Indian Dish which I made with a little twist . Here I used three types of dal instead only one dal. This is a good source of Protein which will make your stomach full for the longer period

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 Cup Yellow Urad Dal
  2. 1/2 cup yellow Moong Dal
  3. 3 tbsp Chana Dal
  4. Salt as per the taste
  5. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  6. oil for deep fry
  7. Water as per the requirement
  8. 4 green chilies
  9. 1/2 cup coriander leaves
  10. 8-10 Curry Leaves
  11. 2 tbsp Semolina if required
  12. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  13. 1 tsp powdered Asafoetida
  14. 3 tbsp chopped onions

Instructions

  1. Mix all Dals in a bowl
  2. Wash them properly
  3. Soak them in appropriate hot water for 2 hours
  4. After 2 hours drain the excess water
  5. Transfer them into a sieve
  6. Place the sieve on a bowl to remove as much water as can
  7. Rest it for 1 hour
  8. After 1 hour Take a Grinder Jar
  9. Add Dals into it and Grind them without water
  10. If required add some water
  11. It should be a hard batter not runny
  12. Take out in bowl
  13. If the batter becomes runny add Semolina into it
  14. Now add Cumin seeds into it
  15. Add Asafoetida and mix them
  16. Add Turmeric Powder mix them
  17. Add Chopped Coriander leaves
  18. Add Curry leaves
  19. Add Chopped Onions into it
  20. Now mix them properly either with hand whisker or the hand only
  21. To ensure the batter is ready , Take some water in a bowl
  22. Drop a little amount of water into it if it flows it’s ready if not then whisk it for some more time
  23. Heat a Kadhai
  24. Add oil into it to deep fry
  25. Wet your hands with water and take out some mixture on your left hand
  26. Flatten it like a tikki
  27. Make a hole in the middle
  28. Carefully drop the Vadas into the kadhai
  29. Deep Fry them on medium flame so that they will get cooked properly
  30. Let them cook on medium flame if you want more crispy Vadas
  31. They are ready to eat
  32. Relish them with the choice of your chutney or Sambhar whatever you like
