ABOUT Mooli Parathas (Radish Parathas)... RECIPE

A paratha recipe that is so synonymous to Indian flat bread lovers. These parathas are made and relished in many a homes for a yummy breakfast. The best part is that it does not take much time in preparations. It is slow cooked to retain the perfect texture and this is where it takes a little more time but the efforts are worth it all. Enjoy these yummy lipsmacking parathas on weekend special family mealtimes.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Radish or mooli grated 3 cups
  2. Onions chopped finely 2
  3. Green chillies finely chopped 3
  4. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  5. Coriander leaves finely chopped 1/4th cup
  6. Garam masala 1 tsp
  7. Cumin seeds crushed 1 tbsp
  8. Ginger grated 1 tbsp
  9. Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  10. Ghee or oil for shallow frying 1/2 cup
  11. Butter for serving 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Squeeze out any extra water from the grated radish.
  2. It is important to do. The juice that is left can be used to make the paratha dough.
  3. Add all the ingredients to a bowl.
  4. Mix well and do not delay in making the parathas.
  5. Place 2 tablespoon full of the mix onto a rolled disc.
  6. Cover it up with another one.
  7. Press it lightly towards the sides and start rolling.
  8. You can tap it with your hands too rotating it all the while.
  9. Heat a griddle or a tawa.
  10. Add a teaspoon of oil or ghee.
  11. Place the paratha on it.
  12. Keep the flame on medium to low heat only.
  13. Slow cooking is important so that it gets cooked inside out.
  14. Follow the same process for all the parathas.
  15. Serve it with a dollop of butter and raita of your choice.
