Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Peas / matar - 2 cup
  2. Chopped potato - 2
  3. Chopped onion - 1
  4. Chopped ginger garlic - 1 tsp
  5. Tomato puree - 1/2 cup
  6. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Red chili powder - 1 tsp
  9. Cardamom - 2 - 3
  10. Cloves - 2
  11. Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  12. Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  13. Salt - to taste
  14. Asafoetida / hing - a pinch
  15. Oil - 4 tbsp
  16. Chopped coriander leaves - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. In a blender, grind 1 cup peas / matar to smooth paste.
  2. Grind 1 cup of peas coarsely
  3. Grind ginger garlic,cloves,cardamom and cinnamon to a paste.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.
  5. Add potato and fry till brown and crisp. Drain excess oil
  6. Add peas to hot oil, stir fry and keep it aside
  7. Add onion and saute for 2 - 3 mins.
  8. Add ground paste,tomato puree , spice powders and salt. Mix well
  9. Saute for 4 - 5 mins over low heat
  10. Add peas , potato and 1 cup of water and cook 15 mins over low heat
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

It goes well with plain rice.
