Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Foxtail millet / Thinai 1 cup
  2. Tuvr dal 1/2 cup
  3. 1 cup chopped Vegetables of your choice (carrot, beans, tomatoes, capsicum, chow chow, potato)
  4. Bisibele bath powder 2 tbsp
  5. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Tamarind lemon size
  8. Onion 2, sliced
  9. ghee 1 tbsp
  10. Coriander leaves 3 tbsp, chopped
  11. For seasoning - oil 1 tbsp
  12. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  13. Jeera 1/2 tsp
  14. Methi seeds 1/4 tsp
  15. Red chili -1
  16. curry leaves 6-7
  17. 2 green chilies, chopped

Instructions

  1. Boil water and cook millet until done.
  2. Soak lemon size Tamarind for 30 minutes, extract tamarind pulp
  3. Add 1/2 Cup Tur dal and Vegetables in Pressure cooker
  4. Add Turmeric and 1 TSP salt. Pressure cook for 5 whistles
  5. Heat Oil. Add Mustard when it cracks add Jeera, Methi and Red chili
  6. Saute sliced onion and curry leaves until translucent
  7. Add Tamarind extract and Bisibele bath powder
  8. Add 1 TSP salt and Coriander leaves
  9. Add cooked dal and Vegetables
  10. Add cooked millet and ghee. Mix well. Cook for a minute
  11. Serve hot with chips or any Vegetable fry
