ABOUT Little Millet (Saamai) Bisibele Bath RECIPE

Bisibele bath is one of the popular breakfasts of Karnataka. It basically made using rice , dal and mixed spices. I used little millet instead of rice and used home made masala powder.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Little Millet 1 cup
  2. Masoor dal 1/4 cup
  3. Chopped Beans 10
  4. Chopped Carrot 1
  5. Cashew nuts 1 handful
  6. Ground nuts 1 handful
  7. Grated Kopra 1 tbsp
  8. Bisibele bath Masala powder 1 tbsp
  9. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  10. Jaggery 1/2 tsp
  11. Tamarind 2 peanut size
  12. Ghee 1 tbsp
  13. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  14. Bengal gram 1 tsp
  15. Curry leaves 1 spring
  16. Red Chilly 2
  17. Salt
  18. Water 6 cups

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the little millet for about 8-10 minutes.
  2. Soak the roasted millet and masoor dal in water for about one hour.
  3. Drain the water and keep ready.
  4. Take a pressure cooker, heat ghee.
  5. Add in mustard seeds, Bengal gram.
  6. Once crackled , add in curry leaves , red chilly, cashew nut, ground nut , grated Kopra one by one and fry.
  7. Now add chopped veggies , Bisibele Bath powder, turmeric powder and saute for two minutes.
  8. Now add soaked millet and dal, salt , jaggery , tamarind and water. Pressure cook up to 2-3 whistles in medium flame.
  9. Open the lid once pressure releases Serve hot .
