ABOUT Bisibele Bhaat RECIPE

It is a traditional dish of Karnataka , it is like a full meal in one dish.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1 cup cooked rice
  2. 1/4th cup cooked Arhar dal
  3. 1 teasepoon salt
  4. 1 onion , finely chopped
  5. 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
  6. 2 tbsp carrot , finely chopped
  7. 2 tbsp boiled potatoes , finely chopped
  8. 2 tbsp frozen peas , boiled
  9. 1 tomato , finely chopped
  10. 1 tbsp oil
  11. 1 tsp Rai
  12. 1 tsp safed urad dal
  13. 1/4 tsp methidana
  14. 1/2 tsp jeera
  15. Pinch of heeng
  16. 1 tsp red chilly powder
  17. 1 tsp dhania powder
  18. Pinch of haldi powder
  19. 1 tbsp Bisibele bhaat masala ( you can also use sambhar masala )
  20. 1 tbsp Tamarind Pulp
  21. 1 tsp red chilly paste
  22. 1 tbsp freshly grated coconut
  23. few curry leaves
  24. 1 tbsp finely chopped Coriander leaves
  25. Some water to adjust the consistency
  26. 1 teasepoon haldi

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and put rai urad dal , methidana , jeera and heeng , let them splutter, then put curry leaves and onion.
  2. Cook for two minutes, then add ginger and tomatoes, now add vegetables.
  3. Cook for two minutes, then add haldi , red chilly powder, dhania powder and saute for a while.
  4. Then put masala and salt, mix well. Add dal and some water, mix well
  5. Now add rice and mix well.
  6. Add red chilly paste and tamarind pulp , mix nicely.
  7. Now add half of coriander and mix nicely
  8. It is ready to serve. Garnish with remaining coriander
