ABOUT Handi Paneer Gravy RECIPE

Handi paneer , A north Indian style one pot soft paneer curry recipe packed with spices and earthy flavor. Pair it with hot steamed jeera rice or any Indian bread.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 200 gm : Paneer cut into strips
  2. 1/2 cup : Green Bell pepper,diced
  3. 1/2 cup : Yellow bell pepper , diced
  4. 3 tbsp : Oil
  5. 1 medium : Onion , finely chopped
  6. 2 medium : Tomato, finely chopped
  7. 1 tsp : Ginger garlic paste
  8. 1/2 tsp : Turmeric
  9. 1 tsp : Red chilli powder
  10. 1 tsp : Coriander powder
  11. 1/2 tsp : Cumin powder
  12. 1 tsp : Garam masala
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 1 tsp : Sugar
  15. 1 tbsp : Crushed Kasoori methi
  16. 1/4 cup : Coriander, finely chopped
  17. 2 tbsp : Thick yogurt, well beaten
  18. 1/2 cup : Milk
  19. 1 tbsp : Cooking cream
  20. 1 tbsp : Fennel seeds
  21. 1 tsp : Black Peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Dry roast fennel and peppercorns for 2 mins on medium low flame. Grind them together and keep it aside.
  2. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan, add the paneer, fry until golden, remove and set aside. Add fried paneer to bowl of water.
  3. Add diced bell peppers, fry until golden specks appear. Remove them and set them aside as well.
  4. In a pan, heat remaining oil, add cumin seeds, onion, salt and saute till golden brown. Then add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.
  5. Now add tomato and fry till its mushy and raw smell disappears. Add spice powders, dry fenugreek leaves, salt and saute till the oil oozes out.
  6. Add yogurt and 1/2 cup milk. Mix well, Cover and simmer for for 2 minutes.
  7. Add fried paneer and bell peppers .Stir and simmer until paneer is well blended with the spices.
  8. Now add cream, sugar,powdered pepper, fennel powder and saute for two minutes. Add chopped coriander leaves, squeeze some lime and turn off the heat.
  9. Serve hot with roti or pulao
