ABOUT Spinach Raita / Palak Raita / Pachadi RECIPE

Spinach raita is very healthy and delicious raita. Serve the spinach raita, as a salad or along with parathas or as a side dish along with your main course meal.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups fresh thick yogurt
  2. 2 packed cups finely chopped spinach
  3. 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
  4. 1 /2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  5. 1/2 tsp of sugar
  6. 1 /2 tsp Coarsely pounded black pepper
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Ingredients for seasoning / alternative flavour
  9. 1/2 tsp oil
  10. 1 /4 tsp mastard seeds
  11. 1/2 tsp halved urad dal
  12. Asprige of curry leaves
  13. Pomegranate some decoration

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in heavy bottomed pan, add the cumin seeds and allow it to crackle.
  2. Add chopped spinach and saute on high heat until tender and most of the water is evaporated.
  3. Set a side and allow the spinach to cool completely.
  4. WHISK together the yogurt, cumin powder, red chilli powder, black pepper and salt.
  5. Fold in the cold spinach mixture in to the whisked yogurt.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and refrigerate of two hours before serving.
  7. The final step is the make the seasoning you can use either one of the Ingredients in the seasoning mentioned.
  8. Heat oil in a tadka pan. Add the seasoning ingredients and allow it to roast and crackles, turn off the heat.
  9. Pour the seasoning onto the spinach raita / pachadi and serve.
  10. Serve the spinach raita, as a salad or along with parathas or as a side dish along with your main course meal.
  11. Sprinkle some pomegranate.
