ABOUT Masoor daal biryani RECIPE

This biryani is made with rice and red lentils or masoor dal, a perfect wholesome, one pot meal for the lunches or dinners.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Basmati rice 1 cup
  2. Masoor daal split 3tbsp
  3. Friied onions 1/3 cup
  4. Fried nuts too garnish
  5. Boiled peas 2tbsp
  6. Whole spices(big cardamom, pepper corns,cloves,bay leaf)
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Jeera

Instructions

  1. Soak rice and dal for 20 minutes
  2. Boil peas and keep aside.
  3. Fry onions and nuts, keep them aside as well.
  4. Heat some oil/ghee in a pressure cooker pan, add the whole spices.
  5. Add rice, salt & saute for sometime then add water and pressure cook till 1 whistle
  6. In another pan add oil, jeera [cumin seeds] then add dal,salt, little turmeric powder and cook till all the grains are split and cooled
  7. Now in a serving bowl make layer of rice dal and top them up with fried onions ,peas and nuts
  8. Enjoy with raita
