ABOUT Prawns and Pumpkin Curry RECIPE

It is a Bengali dish , prawns are marinated and cook with pumpkin pieces , seasoned with spices

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Pumpkin 300 gms
  2. Prawns washed and deveined 300 gms
  3. Onion chopped 1
  4. Ginger paste 1/2 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  6. chilli powder 1 tsp
  7. Coriander powder 1/2 tsp
  8. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  9. chopped coriander leaves 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Wash prawns properly
  2. Marinate with turmeric powder and salt , rest for 20 _ 30 mins
  3. Cut pumpkin in big cubes
  4. Heat oil , add onion , ginger and garlic , saute until onion are translucent
  5. Now add pumpkin , saute for 4_5 mins
  6. Now add cumin powder , coriander powder , Chilli powder and salt , saute for 2_3 mins
  7. Cover and cook for 4_5 mins , or until pumpkins are tender , check in between
  8. In another nonstick pan heat oil , when oil is hot enough add marinated prawns , fry until light red in medium heat
  9. Now add water to the pumpkin pieces , when gravy starts boiling , pumpkin pieces are also soft enough add fried prawns .
  10. Continue to boil for 5_7 mins in medium heat or until the gravy comes to the desired consistency
  11. Switch off gas , add chopped coriander leaves
  12. Serve hot with rice
