ABOUT Indo Chinese Fried Momos RECIPE

Simple and elegant dish with an Indian twist and Chinese twist.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For the Momos outer part:
  2. 8 to 10 tablespoon maida
  3. 1 tablespoon Chiroti Rava
  4. 1 Teaspoon oil
  5. Salt as required
  6. Water
  7. For the stuffing:
  8. 1/4 cup black channa dal
  9. 2 teaspoon oil
  10. Little Saunf
  11. 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  12. 1/2 teaspoon dhania powder
  13. Pinch of turmeric
  14. 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  15. Salt as required
  16. Little Kasuri methi
  17. For sauce:
  18. 1 Teaspoon oil
  19. 5 pods of garlic finely chopped
  20. 2 Tablespoon tomato sauce
  21. 2 Tablespoon red chilli sauce

Instructions

  1. Boil the chickpeas and allow it to cool completely.
  2. In a bowl add maida, Rava and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add in oil and use your fingers to make a crumb out of it. (This gives a crunchy texture when you fry)
  4. Add in water. Knead well and make a firm dough. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  5. Coarsely mash the boiled chickpeas.
  6. Heat oil in a pan. Add in Saunf.
  7. Add the mashed chickpeas.
  8. Add in red chilli powder, dhania powder, garam masala, turmeric, salt. Mix well.
  9. Add in Kasuri methi.
  10. Fry until the masala smell is gone completely. Allow it to cool.
  11. Make a small ball of the maida mixture. Roll it out like you make puri. Take a small mixture of the chickpeas. Place it in the centre and give the shape of momos.
  12. Prepare few momos in batch wise. Fry them in hot oil till golden brown.
  13. In a pan add oil. Add finely chopped garlic. Fry.
  14. Add in tomato sauce.
  15. Add in red chilli sauce. Fry. Add in the fried momos. Mix well.
  16. Serve hot.
