ABOUT Aapam with sweet coconut milk and onion chutney. RECIPE

This is typical south indian combo served for breakfast or lunch., Light , fluffy soft appam served with some onion chutney and sweet coconut milk.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Raw rice- 2cups
  2. Grated coconut- 3cups
  3. Salt- 1tsp
  4. Sugar- 4tbsps
  5. Cooking soda- half tsp
  6. Oil - 3tbsps
  7. Coconut milk - one cup
  8. Onions - 2
  9. Tomatos - 1
  10. Chilli powder - half tsp
  11. Salt - to taste
  12. Hing powder - little

Instructions

  1. Soak rice for 3 hrs
  2. Grind rice with grated coconut
  3. Once its blended well into a batter..mix well
  4. Leave this overnight to ferment
  5. Next morning add salt, sugar and cooking soda mix well
  6. Take appam pan add little batter..turn it around into appam and add little oil close it
  7. Once appam is done..take it out from the pan.
  8. Serve hot with sweetened coconut milk and onion chutney
  9. For onion chutney-
  10. Fry onions and tomatos, grind them
  11. Take little oil in a kadayi..Add the ground onion tomato mixture
  12. With this add chilli powder, turmeric powder , hing and salt..once they r mixed together..keep aside
