ABOUT Gujarat Special Pooran Poli ( Toor daal "Vedhami" ) RECIPE

I am Maharashtrian by Birth, married to Gujarati. This puran poli is different from the Maharashtriyan one but equally delicious.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Cooked Toor daal - 1 Cup
  2. Sugar - 1/2 to 3/4 Cup
  3. Gram flour - 1 tbsp
  4. Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
  5. Sesame seeds, roasted - 1 tsp
  6. Ghee - 2 tsp
  7. Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  8. Jaiphal powder - 1/4 tsp
  9. Ghee for applying - 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan, add cooked Toor daal and 1/2 cup sugar.
  2. Stir and cook till sugar mixes. Add ghee ( 2 tsp) in gram flour and add to the daal mixture. Cook on medium high stirring constantly. As it thickens turn off the gas and cool under the fan.
  3. Add grated coconut and sesame seeds.
  4. Knead dough adding 2 tsp oil. Add Cardamom powder and jaiphal to the daal mixture and mix well.
  5. Now roll a roti. Keep stuffing in center and make a thin stuffed paratha. Roast on a hot griddle on medium flame.
  6. Apply ghee on hot pooran poli and serve with Gujarati Kadhi.
