ABOUT Sivappu Aval / Red Poha Payasam RECIPE

This is a very healthy and delicious recipe which can be made within 15 minutes.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Red poha - 1 cup
  2. Water - 1/2 cup
  3. Milk - 1/2 cup
  4. Sugar - 5 - 6 tbs
  5. Coconut milk - 1/4 cup
  6. Ghee - 2 tbs
  7. Cashew and raisins - a handful

Instructions

  1. Take Poha in a pan and add water to cook it. After 5 minutes add the milk and let it boil. Stir continuously.
  2. Add sugar and cook for another 5 minutes.
  3. Add the coconut milk in the end and just heat it for a minute or two. (Do not put the payasam on flame for more time after adding coconut milk otherwise it will curdle. Now remove the payasam from the heat.
  4. Meanwhile add ghee in a pan and saute the cashew and raisins for garnishing till it becomes nice golden colour.
  5. Now garnish it by adding the nuts and ghee. Serve hot or chilled.
