ABOUT Paruppu Usili RECIPE

This is a protein packet dish made of dal and vegetables like banana flower.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup - Toor dal
  2. 1 cup - Chana dal
  3. 2 - Green chillies
  4. 2 - Dried red chillies
  5. 3 cups - Green beans
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 5-6 spoons - Oil
  8. Slice of ginger
  9. 1 sprig - Curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak both Chana and toor dal together for 2 hours. Add the chillies and ginger. Grind coarsely in a blender.
  2. Cook without whistle in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes till dal becomes dry. Turn off the gas and break the dried dal with a fork.
  3. Heat a pan, add water and cook the beans till they become soft.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and add 2 additional red chillies. Add the dal and sauté along with the beans.
  5. Add salt to taste and dish is ready to serve. Garnish with curry leaves.
