ABOUT Spicy Millet (Bajra) Soup RECIPE

A very healthy, spicy and delicious soup with goodness of greenery and a healthy grain bajra.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Millet (bajra) 1 tbs
  2. Hot water approx 2 cup (for soak)
  3. Green garlic 2 tbs
  4. Green chilli 2 or 3
  5. Green spring onion 2 tbs
  6. Ginger small piece grated (optional)
  7. Fresh chopped coriander leaves 1 cup
  8. Thick yoghurt 1/2 cup
  9. Ghee 2 tbs
  10. Water 1 and 1/2 glass (use needed)
  11. Jeera 1/2 tsp
  12. Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
  13. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  14. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  15. Dhaniya jeera powder 1 tsp
  16. Salt to taste
  17. Hing 2 pinch
  18. Star anise 1
  19. Bay leaves 1
  20. Cloves 1 or 2
  21. For serving:
  22. Chopped coriander 1 tsp
  23. Chopped green garlic 1/2 tsp
  24. Spring onions chopped 1/2 tsp
  25. Green chilli chopped 1 or 2

Instructions

  1. Wash the millet and soak into the hot water for 4 hours.
  2. After 4 hours drain the water from millet and water keep aside.
  3. Now add yoghurt in it and grind it coarsely.
  4. Keep ready green garlic, green onions and millet mixture.
  5. Now take a kadai add ghee for simmer, then add jeera and mustard seeds.
  6. When the seeds start to crackle add hing cloves, star anise, bay leaf and turmeric powder.
  7. Now add green garlic, green onions, green chilli and grated ginger now saute for 2 or 3 minute.
  8. Now add millet and curd mixture in it along with the soaked water of millet.
  9. Now add extra 1 glass of water and keep boiling.
  10. Now add salt, red chilli powder, dhaniya jeera powder and bring it to boil for 15 to 20 minute.
  11. Keep thickness of soup according to your choice .
  12. In last add chopped coriander leaves, some green garlic and green chilli.
  13. Serve hot this spicy and delicious soup .
