ABOUT Classic eggless scones RECIPE

Scones are the easiest English teatime treat. There is scope to customise them according to your taste. I made the classic ones eggless.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  2. 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  3. 1/4 tsp baking Soda
  4. 2 tbsp sugar
  5. 4 tbsp cold butter
  6. 1/2 cup curd
  7. 1/4 cup milk
  8. Milk ( for wash on top )
  9. White sugar and cinnamon powder ( for sprinkling on top )

Instructions

  1. Sieve flour, baking powder and soda.
  2. Add sugar and mix well.
  3. Add cold butter and mix gently till you get a crumbly mix .
  4. Add the liquid ingredients I.e curd, milk and mix just to bring it together as a dough.
  5. Keep the dough on a well floured surface and fold it gently on itself 10 times.
  6. Divide the dough into two and make 2 rough circles 1/2 " thickness by pressing either with rolling pin or hand.
  7. Let the edges be irregular or you can tidy them with your hands, cut both the circle into 6 wedges.
  8. Put the wedges into a baking pan lined with parchment sheet leaving half inches between them.
  9. Keep them in freezer for 15 -30 mins till the oven is preheating.
  10. Take out, do a milk wash on all and sprinkle some white sugar and cinnamon powder on top.
  11. Bake in preheated oven at 200 degree C for 20 mins approx till they turn golden brown.
  12. Take out, serve hot, warm or at room temperature with jam or as such with tea.
