ABOUT Damm Ke Semiyan RECIPE

It is a traditional Hyderabadi Dish which is popular in Hyderabadi homes during the month of Ramadan.It is a royal recipe as it has almost all the rich ingredients.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Ghee/Clarified Butter -1/4 cup
  2. Milk -1/2 cup
  3. Cardamom powder-1/2 teaspoon
  4. Water -1/4 cup
  5. Semiyan- 1 cup (very thin semiyan preferred)
  6. Sugar - 1 1/2 cup
  7. Mawa/Khoya- 1/2 cup
  8. Food color -1/2 teaspoon
  9. Few saffron strings
  10. dry fruits for garnish

Instructions

  1. First fry the semiyan in Clarified butter until they turn golden brown
  2. Take them onto a separate plate
  3. In the same pan,add some more clarified butter and let it heat for 1 minute.
  4. Then add milk and water carefully and let it heat until bubbles pop up.
  5. Now add semiyan,mix it thoroughly and immediately after 1 minute,add sugar and mawa to the semiyan and again mix all of them thoroughly.
  6. Let it cook until sugar and mawa melts totally.
  7. Now add food color, cardamom powder and saffron strings to the semiyan and mix well.
  8. Let it cook for 10 minutes and then switch off the stove.
  9. Let it cool and then serve it with some dry fruits.
