#Moong dal chilla

Moong dal pancakes stuffed with pea and cottage cheese. It's a north indian delicacy one will find a stall of this at every north indian wedding.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For pancake--
  2. Dhuli moong dal 1 cup
  3. Ginger 1"
  4. Green chillies 2-3
  5. Salt 1 tesp
  6. Red chilli powder 1/4 tesp
  7. Cumin seeds 1/2 tesp
  8. Eno salt 1/2 tesp
  9. Oil for roasting
  10. For filling--
  11. Oil 1 tesp
  12. Green Peas 3/4 cup
  13. Cottage cheese/paneer 50 gms
  14. Salt 1/4 tesp
  15. Red chilli powder 1/4 tesp
  16. Chat masala 1/4 tesp
  17. Garam masala 1/4 tesp

Instructions

  1. Soak dhuli moong dal over night.
  2. Wash and drain dal.
  3. Add drained dal to a grinder jar. Add green chillies and ginger to the jar. Add 1/4 cup of water and grind to a smooth paste.
  4. Remove to a bowl. Mix salt, red chilli powder and cumin seeds in batter.
  5. For filling heat oil in a wok. Add washed pea pearls and salt. Cook covered till peas get soft.
  6. Chop paneer in very small chunks.
  7. Add paneer chunks in wok with red chilli powder, garam masala,chat masala and mix well.
  8. Remove to a bowl. Mix chopped green coriander leaves in pea mixture.
  9. Now add eno salt to dal batter and mix gently.
  10. Heat a non stick pan. Lightly brush with oil.
  11. Put a ladle full of dal mixture and spread in circular motion using ladle. Sprinkle little oil around sides of pancake. Let it cook on medium heat for around 2 minutes.
  12. Flip. Roast from other side too.
  13. Flip again and put a spoon full of pea mixture in center and fold the pancake into half. Prepare all pancakes same way.
  14. Serve with mint chutney.
