South Indian Style Prawn Masala. A great side dish to go along with rice or roti.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Prawns - 500 gms
  2. Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  3. Onion - 1 large chopped finely
  4. Green Chilli - 3 chopped
  5. Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
  6. Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  7. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  8. Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Tomato - 1 large chopped finely
  11. Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Oil - 2 tbsp
  14. Water - 1/2 cup
  15. Marination Ingredients:
  16. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  17. Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  18. Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  19. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  20. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  21. Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  22. lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  23. Curd - 2 tbsp
  24. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Take cleaned prawns in a bowl and add all the marination ingredients in it and mix well. Let it marinate for atleast 1 hour. The more marination the better.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Add the mustard seeds and let it crackle.
  4. Add the onions, green chillies and the half of the curry leaves and saute till onion becomes translucent.
  5. Add the masalas except the garam masala powder. Mix well and saute for a min.
  6. Add the tomatoes and fry till it turns mushy.
  7. Add the marinated prawns, cover the pan and cook in low-medium flame till the water evaporates completely.
  8. Add 1/2 cup of water, garam masala powder, remaining curry leaves, mix well and cook on high flame 5-10 mins and take off the flame.
