ABOUT Jaggery Rice (Gur Waley Chawal) RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Cooked rice 3 cups
  2. Jaggery 3/4 Cup
  3. Cloves 4 to 5
  4. Cardamom pods 4
  5. Ghee 1 1/2 tbsp
  6. Almonds slivered 2 tbsp
  7. Water 3 to 4 tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a pan, add ghee and melt the jaggery with little water.
  2. Add the cloves and cardamom as it thickens.
  3. Add almond slivers and the cooked rice now, mix well and leave it to simmer for 2 to 3 mins.
  4. Serve it hot or chilled as desired.
  5. When you cook rice, add cinnamon and caraway seeds to the water.
  6. It gives a nice aroma and flavour to the rice.
