ABOUT Moongori (Moong Dal Pakoras) RECIPE

This is my mother-in-laws favourite. She always asks me to make this dish. Moongori are a popular dish of M.P and U.P. In M.P they are served covered with chat masala and fried green chilli.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Yellow Moong dal(soaked overnight) 300 gms
  2. Salt as per taste
  3. Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  4. Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  5. Dry Mango Powder (Amchoor) - 1/2 tsp
  6. Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
  7. Coriander leaves a few - Optional
  8. Green chillies 1 - 2 (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Soak the yellow moong dal overnight.
  2. Rinse it thoroughly and then put it in a mixer/blender. Do not add water.
  3. Blend it into a coarse paste. There may be some pieces of dal but it only adds to the crispiness.
  4. Add all the spices, coriander leaves and mix.
  5. Put a wok on gas and pour in the oil for frying.
  6. Once the oil is hot, slide in the batter slowly with your hands into the hot oil very carefully.
  7. Fry them till golden.
  8. Serve them hot with sauce or chutney.
