ABOUT Drumstick Rasam RECIPE

Rasam is very tasty and healthy South Indian recipe, adding drumstick in rasam adds more taste and healthy.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Boiled toor dal - 1/2 cup
  2. Tomatoes - 2
  3. Drumstick - 1
  4. Tamarind - small lemon size
  5. Green chilli - 1
  6. Coriander leaves - 1 tsp
  7. Rasam powder - 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder - 1 /4 tsp
  9. Salt as per taste
  10. For tempering
  11. Oil - 2 tsp
  12. Ghee - 1 tsp
  13. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  14. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  15. Red chilli - 1
  16. Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  17. Hing - 1 pinch

Instructions

  1. Cook toor dal for 5 whistles and keep it aside. Soak tamarind in hot water keep it aside.
  2. Wash drumstick, peel it slightly and cut it into 1 to 2 inch.
  3. Heat a pan with 1 tsp of oil add green chilli, chopped tomatoes fry it well by adding salt and turmeric powder.
  4. When tomatoes becomes smooth add drumstick pieces fry everything well and cook it by closing lid for few minutes.
  5. Now add 1 glass water boil drumsticks till it cook.
  6. Extract tamarind juice add to the above, also add boiled toor dal mix everything well.
  7. Now add rasam powder, coriander leaves to the above adjust water and boil it by closing half lid.
  8. While boiling rasam, heat a pan with oil and ghee add mustard seeds once it splutters add cumin seeds, curry leaves, red chilli and hing mix everything well.
  9. Add tempering into rasam, that's it drumstick rasam is ready to serve.
