ABOUT RAVA PANIYARAM RECIPE

Want to try something different for breakfast? Here is what you have been waiting for! It is one of the popular breakfast recipe from the South Indian cuisine. A special pan is used to make this and it's called as paniyaram chatti or paniyaram tawa or appe pan. Simple, crispy, soft paniyaram recipe makes for a nice breakfast dish. Do give it a try!

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1. Rava / Semolina  -  1/2 cup
  2. 2. Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  3. 3. Sour yogurt  - 2 tbspn
  4. 4. Baking soda  -  1/4 tspn
  5. 5. Greenchilli  - 1 chopped
  6. 6. Onion - 1 medium chopped (optional)
  7. 7. Coriander leaves  - 2 tbspn chopped
  8. 8. Salt
  9. 9. Water ( almost 1/4 cup )
  10. 10. Oil  for drizzling  - 1 to 2 tbspn

Instructions

  1. Mix together semolina, rice flour, baking soda and sour yogurt.
  2. Add water littile by littile to make a thick batter. Set aside to rest for 10 minutes .
  3. After 10 minutes, add Greenchilli, onion, salt and coriander leaves. Mix well. Keep aside.
  4. Heat a paniyaram tawa, drizzle 1/4 tspn oil into each cavity and spread with a brush.
  5. Pour batter into the cavities, filling 3/4 each cavity.
  6. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove lid and when the underside turns golden, turn to the other side with a wooden skewer.
  8. Cover and cook golden and crisp on both sides. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
