ABOUT Zarda Flag RECIPE

Popular and the most easiest one. Sweet rice tossed in butter or ghee and garnished with loads of dry fruits.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Basmati Rice 100 gms
  2. Sugar 6 tbsp
  3. Cardamom pods 5
  4. Nuts of your choice 1 cup, chopped
  5. Green food colour 1 tsp
  6. Butter or ghee 3 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Soak the rice for about 20 minutes.
  2. Drain and cook it like we make our daily plain boiled rice.
  3. Don't overcook it. Let it be al dente.
  4. Separate about a few tbsps of rice, in the rest, add the green colour. Sprinkle the sugar on top along with ghee and cardamom pods.
  5. Cover it and cook on a low flame. Let the sugar mix well. It should give this rice a nice sheen and glaze.
  6. Garnish with nuts of your choice and serve it hot.
  7. Make the flag as shown in the picture and use the white rice for the crescent moon.
