Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Basmati Rice 100 gms
  2. Sugar 6-7 tbsp
  3. 6 cardamoms
  4. Cinnamon powder 1 tsp
  5. Butter or ghee 4 tbsp
  6. 2 colours resembling our flag - green and saffron
  7. Nuts of your choice 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Soak the rice for about 20 minutes. Cook and drain as usual. Keep aside.
  2. Divide the rice into 3 equal parts.
  3. Keep the white rice as it is, while adding the respective colours to the other 2 parts.
  4. Take the white part of the rice in a pan and add about 1 1/2 tbsp of ghee as well as sugar. Add in a pinch of cinnamon powder and 2 cardamom pods.
  5. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Until sugar melts and gives the rice a beautiful shine and glaze.
  6. Follow the same process for the other 2 portions of rice.
  7. Assemble like our national tricolour flag in small shot glasses.
