ABOUT Tricolour / layered khaman dhokla RECIPE

Very quick and easy! So spongy, kids would really love it! You could serve it for brunch or snacks! (Jain / No Onion, No Garlic).

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup Chickpeas flour
  2. 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  3. 1/4 tsp Red chilli powder
  4. 1 tsp Salt
  5. 2 tsp Sugar
  6. 1 1/2 tsp Fruit salt
  7. 1/2 glass water
  8. 3 tbsp green chutney
  9. 3 tbsp sweet dates chutney
  10. For Tempering:
  11. 2 tsp oil
  12. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  13. 4-5 curry leaves
  14. Few green chili slices
  15. 3 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add chickpeas flour, salt, sugar, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and water. Mix it well. It should be idli batter consistency.
  2. Now grease the plate of a steamer by oil.
  3. Now add fruit salt and 1 tbsp water in it and mix well and pour a bit into the plate to make first thin layer and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Once cooked spread green chutney in it and again pour second thin batter layer on it and again cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Spread dates chutney on it and pour third layer of batter on it and sprinkle red chilli powder in it and cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Once cooked remove it from heat and allow it to be at room temperature.
  7. Add oil in a frying pan, temper mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chillies and water and spread this on the dhokla.
  8. Cut the dhokla and serve it with green and dates chutney!
