ABOUT Methi Na Muthia RECIPE

A traditional gujarati dish and served as a snack at teatime.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For flour mixture:-2 cup flour (1cup rice, 1/2cup toovar dal, 1/4cup gram dal, 1/4cup urad dal),
  2. 2cup finely chopped and washed methi/fenugreek leaves
  3. 1/2cup chopped palak
  4. 2 tbsp coarse whole wheat flour
  5. 2 tbsp sugar/gud dislove in water
  6. 1/4cup curd
  7. 2 tbsp ginger garlic green chilli paste
  8. 1/4tsp soda bi carb
  9. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  10. 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  11. Salt to taste
  12. For tempering:- 3 tbsp oil
  13. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  14. 1 tsp sesame seeds
  15. 1/4 tsp hing
  16. For garnishing:- coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Mix dal and rice and grind dry coarsely in mixture grinder.
  2. Take 2 cups of flour and mix all other ingredients and mix well.
  3. Knead into a soft dough by using little water.
  4. Shape into oblong muthias/cylindrical roll.
  5. Arrange the rolls on a greased thali and steam in a steamer for 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Cool slightly and cut into slices and keep aside.
  7. For tempering:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds when pop add hing and seasame seeds and saute for few seconds.
  8. Add the sliced muthias toss gently on a slow flame for 2-3 minutes till they are lightly browned.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot tea.
