ABOUT WaterChestnut Gnocchi with tomato Sauce RECIPE

This recipe is inspired by the Italian Gnocchi, but a healthier version of it.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 small boiled potatoes
  2. 1 small boiled carrot
  3. 1 cup singhare ka atta(waterchestnut flour)
  4. ¼ cup sooji
  5. ¼ cup GO pizza cheese
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 1.5 cups chopped tomato
  8. 3-4 garlic cloves finely chopped
  9. 1/2 onion finely chopped
  10. Bay leaf 1
  11. Green chilli 2 finely chopped
  12. Pepper to taste
  13. 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
  14. 1/2 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  15. Keya Italian seasoning
  16. Butter ½ tbspn

Instructions

  1. Mash potato and carrot.
  2. Add salt, flour, sooji, 1 tbspn olive oil.
  3. Mix well and make a soft dough by adding dry flour.
  4. Take a small portion of the dough, roll it with your hands like a sausage(thickness ¼ inch).
  5. Cut into 1 inch pieces.
  6. Press each piece on the fork separately to create the required texture.
  7. Heat water in a pan.
  8. Add salt and 1 tbspn olive oil.
  9. Once the water starts boiling, lower the flame, add the gnocchi.
  10. Once it comes on top(within 2-3 mins)scoop it out. Keep aside.
  11. Heat 1 tbspn olive oil in a separate pan.
  12. Add the bayleaf, green chillies, finely chopped garlic and saute for 2 mins.
  13. Add chopped onions and cook for 5 mins.
  14. Add the chopped tomatoes, salt, pepper powder.
  15. If tomatoes are sour add sugar to balance the taste.
  16. Add ½ tbspn of Italian seasoning. Cover and cook in low flame for 8-10 mins.
  17. Once cooked, let it cool. Remove the bay leaf and grind it.
  18. In the same pan add a mixture of ½ tbspn of butter and ½ tbspn of olive oil.
  19. Add the sauce, cheese and sauté.
  20. Add the gnocchi followed by ¼ tspn Italian seasoning and chilli flakes.
  21. Garnish with cheese and serve hot.
