ABOUT Idli chilli fry RECIPE

Spicy indo Chinese recipe of idli chilli fry. A testy way to use leftover idlis.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 bowls Small idli or big idli cut into cubs
  2. Refined flour (maida) 1/4 cup
  3. 3 tsp corn starch 
  4. 1 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
  5. 1 tbsp oil
  6. 2 Green capsicum cut into cubs
  7. 1 tsp Soy sauce
  8. 1 tsp Red chilli sauce 
  9. 1 tsp tomato sauce
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Spring onion for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix together refined flour and corn flour. Add a little water and make a smooth thick batter
  2. Heat oil in a kadai. Dip the idlis into the above mixture and fry till golden and crisp.
  3. Heat oil in a non stick pan; add ginger garlic paste and chopped garlic and sauté till brown
  4. Add capsicum and sauté for a minute
  5. Add white pepper powder, soya sauce, chilli sauce and salt. Mix well. 
  6. Add two tablespoons water and sauté for a minute
  7. Add the fried idlis and toss well. Serve hot garnished with spring onion greens.
